With his various guest appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and supporting role as Kristen Wiig's jerky non-boyfriend in "Bridesmaids," he's established a reputation as a promising funnyman, and now, he's got a brand new TV role to flex that humor muscle.
IFC today announced that Hamm has joined their series, "The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret," a goofball comedy starring David Cross as a mailroom loser who fakes his way into running an energy drink company in England -- thanks to the equal incompetence of his bizarre CEO, played by "Arrested Development" co-star Will Arnett.
No role has been announced, but it will air starting in January, just as the fifth season of "Mad Men" kicks off. He recently signed a lucrative contract extension for that show, taking him through seven seasons, and is part of a planned upcoming Judd Apatow/Paul Feig comedy which could co-star Melissa McCarthy.

NEW YORK, NY, July 25, 2011 - IFC announced today that Jon Hamm (Mad Men) will guest star in the second season of IFC's original comedy series, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, which will premiere in January 2012. Hamm is featured along side stars David Cross and Will Arnett in five of the series' six brand new half-hour episodes. Additionally, musician Johnny Marr returns to score and perform the series' original music to compliment the existing original pieces he created for season one.The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret is created, written by and stars David Cross (Arrested Development) as Todd Margaret, a corporate nobody and well-intentioned bloke who bluffs his way into a senior sales position heading up the London office for the new energy drink Thunder Muscle. The show also stars Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as Todd's sniveling boss, Brent, Sharon Horgan (Pulling) as Alice, the unwilling object of Todd's affection and Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) as Todd's mysteriously devious singular employee, Dave.
Last season found Todd continuously discovering new outlandish layers of trouble for himself including instigating a biohazard emergency at a major grocery store, getting swindled out of his stock of Thunder Muscle by Turkish terrorists, and being arrested for breaking into Parliament in a misguided attempt to woo Alice. In the upcoming season, we come full circle to Todd's court hearing and find out the identity of the clandestine mastermind of Todd's misfortune.
Actor Jon Hamm is best known for his portrayal of Don Draper in the 1960s-set drama series Mad Men, which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2008. Most recently he starred in Judd Apatow's comedy Bridesmaids.
