AT&T introduced a lineup of five new Android Gingerbread smartphones on Tuesday that range in specs from the low end to the high end of the market.
At the top of AT&T's offering sits the Motorola Atrix 2, featuring a 4.3-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 940 x 540 pixels, a 1-gigahertz dual-core processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM, 8 gigabytes of built-in storage, a front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera that can shoot up to 1080p high-definition video. The Atrix 2 will offer "4G speeds" and run on AT&T's HSPA+ network.
Also on the higher end of the range is the Samsung Captivate Glide, which makes a full slide-out physical keyboard its main draw. Aside from the keyboard, the Captivate Glide features a 4-inch 400 x 800 touchscreen, a 1-gigahertz dual-core processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM,1 gigabyte of built-in storage and 8 gigabytes of storage via microSD card, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and an 8-megapixel camera on the back. The Captivate Glide will run on AT&T's HSPA+ 4G network too.
Toward the lower end of the range spec-wise sits the Pantech Pocket, the Samsung DoubleTime and AT&T Avail pre-paid phone.
The Pantech Pocket makes use of a wider, more square shape than the rectangular look of most smartphones nowadays. The Pocket features a 1-gigahertz processor, a 4-inch touchscreen and a 5-megapixel rear camera.
The Samsung DoubleTime features a 3.2-inch touchscreen which covers, in a clamshell-style form, a full physical keyboard for texting and email, and a second screen. AT&T said the DoubleTime will run on a lower-power 600-megahertz processor.
The AT&T Avail is the only phone in the new lineup that'll be made available to pre-paid customers. The Avail features a 3.5-inch screen, 5-megapixel camera and 512-megabytes of RAM and 512-megabytes of built-in storage alongside 2 gigabytes of storage via a microSD card.
AT&T offered up no prices or solid release dates for the new gadgets, but did say they're expected in time for the holidays.
